“After his retirement as a headmaster, Cikgu Nik Anuar started his new life as a gardener in a backyard garden. He enjoys his days by planting a variety of plants especially ‘serai’ or lemongrass. By gardening, he became more active and increased his health condition without worrying about the stigma of ageing.”

“I love his expression and the backstory. Life continues and one can still enjoy life after retirement while staying healthy as the photographer emphasizes in his story. The background is nice and blurred so it does not intrude on the focus of the photograph.” – Kenny Loh, @Kenny Loh Photography
“A simple retirement life working in and with nature is healthy. After all, good health and happiness is most important in life. This photograph reminds us of this simple truth and the photograph captures the Cikgu’s smile that says it all.” – May Chong, GreenAcres Retirement Village
“The combination of the nature and plants that he works on, and his smile make for a heartwarming photograph.” – Yonsen Chan, @Idea Being
